What We Believe
If you are not familiar with the Church of the Nazarene, you may have questions about what we believe. We hope the following information is helpful in answering those questions.
God
We believe in one God, who is the Creator of all things. We believe that all people are born with a sinful nature, which causes them to sin against God.
But we also believe that God’s love for us caused Him to provide a way for us to be forgiven of our sins. That’s why God sent his Son, Jesus, to die on a cross as the sacrifice for our sins. Through his sacrifice we have the gift of salvation, or forgiveness. We can choose to accept or reject this gift. Those who choose to accept Jesus as their Savior have the promise of eternal life in heaven. But it doesn’t stop there. Salvation isn’t only about spending eternity with Jesus. It’s about living in relationship with Jesus every day.
Those who choose to reject this gift of forgiveness will be lost forever without God
Intentional
We believe and teach that Christians are to live a life set apart from intentional sin, and that this is made possible by the power of the Holy Spirit living in us.
In short, we believe that God can change people’s lives. We want Shipshewana Church of the Nazarene to be a place where people can experience that life-changing power!
